Home Sweet Home

After leaving work today, I was determined to get out and scout some locations, and maybe if I was lucky, squeeze off a few frames. After running a few errands & stopping by home to pickup my gear, I left on my late afternoon adventure. After scouting for a couple hours, I found myself at a local park near downtown.

After running down to the field a few times, I determined it was just a bit too muddy and risky to go down later at night. Instead, I found myself a much drier & sturdier platform, which happened to be a nearby bridge. By this time, the sun had set, but the sky had a nice cool color to it. I was only able to fire off a few frames, before the ambient light was completely gone.

Knowing ahead of time, that I was after some long exposures, I knew a cable release & tripod were mandatory. I don’t know about you, but my hands get shakier than a leaf when their cold. Plus, with the all the cars & buses going by, there were a lot of vibrations. On top of that, there seemed to be an unusually high number of planes flying over head, which challenged me compositionally as well. So, choosing when I enabled mirror lock-up & when I would click the shutter was very important.

Here are a few samples from my adventure this evening. I hope you enjoy them!
